About That New Takeoff Album

The impressive solo album from the former outcast of Migos

When anticipating the release, I really wanted this album to be good. Takeoff isn’t one of the most loved members of Migos despite his respectable verses on hits like “I Get the Bag” and “Narcos”. I feel like he doesn’t get enough credit for his work, so I wanted this album to be really good.

With that being said, I didn’t expect very much from this album. Even though he has some really good verses, Takeoff is a hit-or-miss artist. He either kills that beat or shits the bed. Because of this, I didn’t really know what to expect out of this album.

The album has a few songs I can see being hits, including “She Gon Wink”, “Casper”, and “Infatuation”. What sticks out about this album other than the hits are the songs that aren’t hits. They aren’t bad. My experience when an artist releases their first album is that the songs that miss tend to miss really bad. With this album, Takeoff didn’t miss on the songs that aren’t hits, the hits stand out because they are just better.

This album is a great listen and definitely better than Quavo’s solo album. I doubt this album will go down in history as an amazing album, but it’s definitely better than expected and shows lots of promise not only for the future of Migos but also for Takeoff’s solo career.
