Growing kids and growing companies
Ev Williams

When my children were school-age, I had a full-time job. Our workdays eventually, after 6 or so years, went from five days a week to four days a week. However, after 10 years that wasn’t enough for me. I needed freedom, to leave whenever I wanted and visit my mom, or stay with my daughter, who now has children of her own, or to lie on the beach in a foreign country and close deals while sipping champagne and watching the sunset. To do this, I started my own business. I haven’t tracked the hours I work on a consistent basis, but I believe it’s much more than when I worked for somebody else. But it’s on my own terms, from wherever, and whenever I like.
