Observations

Jul. 9 2016, students linger around BU Beach with one main objective; to observe and to write down these observations. The sky is clear with an occasional cloud here and there. The sun beats down on the campus; an airplane can be seen soaring through the crystal blue skies. The students spread out along the freshly cut, green grass avoiding the large, metal sculpture in the center of the lawn. A maintenance man who is seeding the grass avoids the students as they plop down randomly. Seen on the Charles River at the time, is a blue boat containing four people. Throughout the half-hour that the students are given to observe, a kayaker joins the blue boat along with a much larger boat named Henry Longfellow. In front of the Charles, on the sidewalk that stretches alongside it, runners of both genders and many cultures are seen running, jogging, and some even walking as they battle the intense heat that is already confiscating the city and everyone within. A young man walks his Labradoodle as rollerbladers and bikers swerve around him. Cars, clearly driving faster than the speed limit, drive along Storrow Drive; some driving into the city, and some driving out. Nearing the end of the half hour the students have, butterflies and birds are seen flying about and a maintenance crew is loading up a Facilities Management truck. Once the half hour is over, the students mingle back into the library, leaving the outside world to itself.
