600,000 Signatures Strong; California’s Push For Legalized Recreational MarijuanaThough California is one of the first states which come to mind with the mention of marijuana, the home of the Emerald Triangle has not yet caught up to other cannabis complaisant states that have legalized recreational marijuana use. This may soon change, however, with the help of a powerful and high profile coalition, which includes amongst its notable members Democratic Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom and former Napster founder and Facebook President Sean Parker. To date, Parker has donated over $1 million to the coalition. The coalition aims to place the Adult Use of Marijuana Act on the November 8 ballot, in hopes of making California the fifth state to legalize recreational marijuana use. It seems that goal is well within reach, as the coalition recently submitted over 600,000 signatures in favor of putting the measure on the November 8 ballot. This number is well over the 365,000 verified voter signatures necessary to do so.
