Rare and Collectible 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz
The great tail fin battles of the 1950s between auto manufacturers reached its zenith in 1959. While the audacious fins of the 1959 Cadillac are blamed by many for the subsequent deescalation and toning down in the 1960 model year design, fifty-eight years later the widely-recognized winner of the war is the ’59 Cadillac.
The vehicle’s popularity reached a peak in the 1990s but a declining classic car market doused the super-heated auction market. However, the towering tail fins are again in great demand with coupes and convertibles commanding premium prices.
Easily the most desired of the 1959 models is the low-production and ultra-luxurious Eldorado Biarritz. Only 1,320 were produced and, decades later, it’s estimated that fewer than 400 remain intact.
That rarity drives not only the value of the remaining examples but greatly escalates the restoration costs. Parts are scarce and consume much time just to locate and the years will not have been kind to most unrestored models requiring extensive repair, fabrication and reconditioning/rebuilding.
The Cadillac Parts & Restoration (CPR) team has specialized in restoring classic Cadillacs and have done so since 1984 when FEN Enterprises was formed. 1959 models are a favorite niche for CPR and have many projects under their belt. This Argyle Blue Metallic 1959 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz is a recently completed project and its owner is winning First Place trophies and enjoying plenty of top-down driving in this classic.
