On This Day (April 16) : The Rolling Stones Release Their Debut Album
April 16 1964, saw the start of an incredible career with the first self-titled album by The Rolling Stones being released in the UK.
The album was recorded at Regent Sound Studios in London over the course of 5 days and reflected the bands love for R&B. Being rookie songwriters at the time, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards only contributed one original composition to the album but their sound still reached out to fans, staying at number 1 in the charts for an impressive 12 weeks!
The Rolling Stones went on to prove themselves as one of the most infamous rock bands in history, winning a host of Grammy, NME and MTV Awards.
