Using natural soaps for psoriasis can prevent further irritation, help the patches heal more quickly, and possibly even treat psoriasis.

Psoriasis is a chronic skin disease that causes painful and unsightly patches. Psoriasis is also an autoimmune disease, which means that when the immune system becomes overactive, skin cells develop too quickly, causing scaly patches to form.

Psoriasis is not contagious, it’s not due to poor hygiene, or caused by skin irritation. So, soap will not prevent psoriasis or wash the patches away. The right soap can, however, prevent patches from getting worse and help healthy skin grow more quickly.

Psoriasis Facts:

· Most people experience psoriasis as random flare-ups.

· Flare-ups tend to appear, disappear, and then reoccur.

· Soap for psoriasis can shorten the length of psoriasis flare-ups.

Types of soap for psoriasis

· A person who has psoriasis and very dry skin may benefit from a moisturizing soap. At California Handmade Soaps we incorporate colloidal oats together with high quality natural and essential oils dermatologist have proven to be beneficial in nourishing skincare and include:

Exfoliating Soaps

Exfoliating soaps help to remove build up of dry skin, and promote the growth of new, healthy skin.

Exfoliating soaps lift the top layer of skin, helping to speed up the healing process and allowing the body to replace scaly patches with smooth, healthy skin more quickly. California Handmade Soaps have colloidal oats slightly granular and powdered to help with exfoliating the skin gently as it moisturizes. It is best to talk to a doctor before using a harsh or highly concentrated exfoliating soap. Always do a patch test on a small patch of skin before using new products.

Pregnant women should not use chemical exfoliators without first talking to a doctor. Our soaps are natural with custom orders also available for vegan, organic, non-GMO, cruelty-free, chemical-free, color and fragrance free.

Oatmeal Soaps

Our oatmeal soap, particularly colloidal oatmeal, can ease the pain and itching associated with psoriasis. It may also help reduce the redness of psoriasis patches. Research has found that oatmeal can reduce inflammation and may even prevent the skin from releasing chemicals that promote inflammation. It makes the skin feel so smooth and moisturized that I’ve began putting it in almost every soap. It’s great for the skin and extra can almost always be found in the kitchen! Oatmeal is very gentle and is unlikely to irritate the skin, even in people with a history of allergic reactions, or extremely sensitive skin like mine. So, if you suffer from psoriasis and/or sensitive skin, and cannot use other products, oatmeal soap may be a great option for you as well.

Moisturizing Soaps

Dry skin is a symptom of psoriasis and it may be itchy and irritated, making the pain of psoriasis worse. A variety of quality oils and butters have been incorporated in our soaps to help nourish and replace moisture. Some people with psoriasis find relief and thus prefer to use soaps containing natural oils and butters, such as avocado oil and mango or shea butter, to avoid allergic reactions and chemical exposures which can exacerbate irritation.

Psoriasis Outlook

Psoriasis is unfortunately a chronic condition and no soap will permanently cure it. People with psoriasis should seek medical treatment rather than only relying on home remedies. California Handmade Soaps and other home remedies can work together with medical treatments to produce longer periods of clear, scale-free, healthier skin.

Handcrafted natural, vegan, organic, non-GMO, cruelty-free, chemical-free, luxuriously nourishing soaps and spa essentials. Exceptional quality and nourishing skin benefits found in our natural and essential oils, colloidal oats, and silk amino acids to name a few. Custom and wholesale orders available for your store.
