I just find it ironic and somewhat sad and funny that your original response to this piece had basically been a great example of a guy mansplaining to us ladies here that we are either crying over a problem that doesn’t exist, or perpetrating an act that is detrimental to the overall problem at hand.

Shame on us ladies… how could we be so dense as to point out the obvious lack of attention that female victims receive as opposed to male victims? How could we shamelessly point out this injustice and selfishly detract from the larger picture? Tsk tsk… It’s not like it’s a worthy aspect of the problem to address or anything… It’s not like ALSO discussing female victims of violence from police and the state couldn’t possibly help further the discussion or anything… They are just female victims I suppose, and the special circumstances around their brutal and unfair deaths couldn’t possibly be worthy of note… how horribly selfish of us..

I don’t normally get so snotty over stuff like this, but this seriously hit a button. You seem like an intelligent guy, and yet you couldn’t see the real value behind this essay. That right there is your biggest transgression. You’re obviously smarter than this. How can we possibly solve ANY problem, if even the intelligent people aren’t willing to consider multiple sides to a problem?

This isn’t the kind of thing you can just lump together in’t one great big obstacle. This is ALSO a big part of the overall fight for women’s rights AS WELL AS part of making the public aware of police violence along racial lines. Regardless of what many may believe, women are still not equal in this country (regardless of race) and it’s sad and disgusting. Please consider that point the next time you try to shoot down the validity of an essay like this that focuses on an UNDER represented group of victims. They deserve to be named as well. They ALSO deserve justice equal to that of their male victim counterparts.
