America’s Next Civil War: Hillary Clinton versus Black Lives Matter

If Hillary Clinton is elected as the 45th President of the United States, Americans should prepare for a civil war between Black Lives Matter and Hillary Clinton.

In fact, Black Lives Matter activist DeRay McKesson is warning Clinton of protests at the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia. The Black Lives Matter movement has legitimate concern over Clinton’s dangerous anti black rhetoric and support for anti black legislation.

Despite Hillary Clinton’s appeal to black voters, Clinton’s support for the 1994 Crime Bill and her rhetoric towards the black community is simply deplorable. The 1994 Crime Bill put more officers on the ground but increased Americans in prison by nearly 60% after Bill Clinton’s presidency. As a result, the Crime Bill has caused a war between black people also known as black on black crime.

The mass incarceration that came with this bill has held Black America down. However, black politicians and black voters continue to show support for Clinton. African Americans continue to show support even though she has referred to gang members as “super predators.” Clinton felt that going after these “black thugs” would cure problems. Instead, this rhetoric caused whites to be afraid of African Americans and increased police stops of ordinary black people.

In debates, Clinton confirms that the criminal justice system has a bias against black people. Even after the tragic incidents of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile, Clinton expressed remorse for the families. If you looked at Clinton solely on rhetoric, then you would assume she means well. However, Clinton’s words and past actions seem to not match. There is a fundamental disconnect. Clinton is a master panderer of what’s popular at the current time.

Even though Clinton’s actions and words have worked against the black community, she is fortunate enough to face an opponent that happens to be more racist than her… Donald Trump. Clinton’s poll numbers show her far ahead of the bombast Brooklyn billionaire. If Clinton continues with her past anti black actions, her current support will only drop.

While her Republican foes yell at her about her Benghazi disaster, the Black Lives Matter movement is yelling at her about her consistent actions to keep African Americans oppressed. Black Lives Matter will be Clinton’s toughest opponent. The Black Lives Matter movement pushes for their agenda unlike any other social movement. Now, politicians are forced to discuss black issues because of the power of Black Lives Matter. In the 2016 Democratic debates, race issues became the dominant topic of conversation.

Clinton will need to listen to the Black Lives Matter movement on race issues. This will help her in terms of re-election and eliminating perceptions that she is out of touch with common citizens. For someone who cares so much about her image, it should be easy to listen and apply the Black Lives Matter movement’s advice to legislation.

Or, maybe it is not easy for Clinton to listen to advice from groups like Black Lives Matter. Maybe Clinton does not view African Americans highly enough. If she could not win black voters in 2008(albeit she was facing the first black president), then this may just be an act. This act is good enough to gain black support for election but not re-election.

The Black Lives Matter movement believes Clinton’s current pro black rhetoric is an act. More than ever before, Clinton’s past actions are being ostracized. Black Lives Matter protestors have even interrupted Clinton’s speeches and have demanded for change on black issues. The relationship between Clinton and Black Lives Matter is reaching a breaking point.

It’s up to Clinton to cure her problems with the Black Lives Matter movement. Clinton can no longer run away from her past. She cannot afford to make any more mistakes that negatively impact the black community. Time has run out. The black community has supported and idolized her for decades. Now, it’s time for Clinton to give back to the black community.

Republicans, Democrats, and anyone who has watched this Election (seriously) know that Clinton will most likely become the 45th President of the United States. The poll numbers clearly show minority support including African American support. While Clinton has seemed to win the black community over in the 2016 election, if she continues to ignore the black community and continue her negative past, then she should not expect to win the 2020 election.
