Summer camp campers, staff, parents, and alumni take part in #CampTShirtDay an annual campaign to celebrate the gift and power of camp!

On November 15th, campers, staff, alumni and family will take to social media to show off their camp pride by sharing photos of themselves in camp apparel.

November 14, 2016, New York, NY — Tomorrow, campers, staff, parents and alumni from around the world, and of all ages, will show their summer camp pride by joining in the sixth annual International Wear Your Summer Camp T-Shirt Day. Getting involved is as simple as it sounds. Participants wear their favorite camp gear and share photos on social media using the #CampTShirtDay hashtag.

Last year, the event became a trending topic on Twitter and Instagram. This year, the event’s organizers predict that it will be even bigger, and they expect to see more than 35,000 photos and videos shared on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Snapchat.

“It’s become an international holiday, and we have watched it grow every year,” says Lauren Nearpass, co-founder of Summer 365, a leading summer camp consulting service. “We’re helping to drive the event, along with our friends at It’s A Camp Thing and Camp America, but it’s really the camps and the campers that power #CampTShirtDay. It is super special to be a part of it!”

For camps, Camp T-Shirt Day is an exciting and creative opportunity to engage with their communities and raise awareness about their programs. Some camps even run contests to encourage participation. But most campers don’t need much prodding. Camp T-Shirt Day is a chance to demonstrate their camp loyalty and cultivate a feeling of summer before winter sets in. For many, it is also a welcome distraction from a particularly grueling election season.

In the U.S., more than 14 million kids and adults attend camp every year, according to American Camp Association. Last year, people shared more than 20,000 social media posts from more than 25 countries, representing more than 500 summer camps.

Camp T-Shirt Day is a one-of-a-kind event intended to raise awareness about the joy of summer camp at an international level. This year, the event is powered by It’s a Camp Thing and Summer 365 For more information, visit summer365.com, and be sure to follow #CampTShirtDay on November 15th to experience the camp spirit firsthand.
