Most Effective Way to Change Careers in Education
In my career, which spans 16 years, I get the opportunity to speak with many people from all around the world who are both already in education or who are looking to enter the field of education. The topic of career change is one I am confronted with quite regularly. I speak with professionals almost daily who are looking for information on how to switch careers into teaching. I also speak with many educators about their desire to find a career outside of education.
I would say that most of us at one time or another in our lives, become filled with a great desire to change our careers. It is definitely a big decision, and a big change to make, but if we want it enough, it is one that we should definitely pursue. Staying in a career because it is safe is not the way to go through life. We should be willing to take the chance of a career change to pursue a better and more fulfilling life for ourselves. Don’t you agree?
So often, we choose our initial career path because we were influenced by someone or something; whether it was something that we thought we should be doing or it was something that other people in our lives thought we should do. However, now, once we become a little bit more experienced and mature, we also become more attuned to what we actually want for ourselves in our lives.
So, I ask you, are you doing what you really want to be doing with your career? One way to figure out the answer to this question is to figure out who you envy. That might sound strange, but if you find yourself envying aspects of another person’s career, and wanting to be in their career yourself, then you will know in what direction to take your career. It might be uncomfortable to admit you envy someone else, but knowing the answer can help you figure out what you really want to do with your life and your work.
As I personally have left my past career in corporate management to follow my true passion of helping people like you find their perfect careers, I know what it’s like to have that “ah-ha” moment of what you truly want to be doing with your life. Then, it’s all about making the decision to move forward and make it happen!
So, if you have decided that you want to pursue an enjoyable and fulfilling career in education — or outside of education — you will have to take bold action to make it happen! But don’t worry, you can enlist my help to help you get there!!
