“The King”, “The Goat”, The Arnold Palmer

On the 25th of September, the amazing golf legend, Arnold Palmer, passed away. He truly lived a long, fulfilling life, and died at the age of 87. He accomplished many things, became a role model to many, and even had a lemonade-tea named after him, along with being the well known face of it. Many celebrities sent their condolences through tweets, and many are deeply morose about his death. Arnold Palmer will always be remembered, as a husband, a friend, and a father.

Arnold Palmer was born in Latrobe, Pennsylvania in 1929. Like any athlete, or any profession in general, you must start small to get big. He grew up in his father’s light, whom taught Arnold Palmer how to golf. Palmer went through high school, and went to college on a golf scholarship. Through 1958–2011, he had won many awards, and many tournaments. In example, he won The Master Tournament. He also won in other various years. His fame grew when he reached the age 31, when he was winning many openings, along with earning much money. As a golfer, or as a professional athlete, he seemed to have never given up. He won many major openings, and tournaments. Arnold Palmer is surely a role model in golfing, or to all professional atheletes in general.

Going on, Arnold Palmer was not only a professional golfer, he was a father and a husband. On December 20, 1954, he married a woman named Winifred Walzer, who of which had his daughters. His daughters were named Amy and Peggy Palmer. Sadly, his wife, “Winnie” as he called her, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and soon died in 1999. 6 years later, in 2005, of January 26, he married another woman by the name of Kathleen Gawthrop. She had three kids prior to their marriage. They were married from then, and until he soon passed away, 11 years later. She will always keep him in her heart, no matter what.

Additionally, celebrities have been blowing twitter up with many tweets, sharing their despair. Celebrities such as; Justin Timberlake, Mark Wahlberg, Eric Trump, and many others. Mark Wahlberg stated through a simple tweet, “RIP The King,” along with a video from golf digest, reminiscing on Arnold Palmer’s life. Justin Timberlake stated, “First tournament I ever played in…” along with a link to his instagram which had a long remembrance of him (Arnold Palmer). also, he included a picture of him standing with the Arnold Palmer himself. Below he said, “R.I.P #ArnoldPalmer”. Those are only a couple of examples of how Mr. Palmer had an impact on not only golfer and athletes, but celebrities in all.

In summary, Arnold Palmer is a legend, and always will be. He is not only known for his spectacular golfing, but for his refreshing lemonade-tea. Not only that, but he will be remembered as a husband to Kathleen Gawthrop, and a father to Amy and Peggy Palmer, along with Gawthrop’s children. Celebrities sent their condolences for such a legend through Twitter. But to conclude, he will be remembered by many as “The King”, “The Goat”, and for being Mr. Arnold Palmer.
