Unfortunately the mixed martial arts debut bout for Heather “Heat” Hardy (0–0 MMA, 18–0 Boxing) will have to wait as her opponent; Brieta Carpenter (0–0, 2–1 amateur) got injured on the fight week of Invicta FC 21. This was to be her first foray into MMA on a special card for Invicta as they booked an interim featherweight title bout for the main event.

The bout being scratched was confirmed by Frontproof Media through Hardy herself. The injury Carpenter received was not specified but this is a bit of a setback for the Brooklyn based fighter looking to expand her skill set and test them in MMA. Invicta FC did not find a replacement for her but given Hardy’s track record in boxing she could bring the same success to MMA.

**UPDATE: Elizabeth Phillips (5–4) vs. Leah Letson (3–1) has been added to replace the bout in a featherweight match-up. You can see the updated bout listing on Invicta FC’s website.

Women in MMA in 2017 seems to be a big focus as both the UFC and Bellator are starting featherweight divisions and Hardy has seen success in both bantamweight and featherweight classes in boxing. She’s one MMA fans should keep an eye out for. Hopefully we see her soon or a last minute replacement can be found.
