“The American Gangster” Chael Sonnen signs with Bellator

Multiple sources have confirmed including the man himself, Chael Sonnen (28–14–1) will be fighting for Bellator.
“I’m not sticking to one weight class either, I fight at ‘Gangster Weight’ and nobody is safe.”
— Chael Sonnen
Sonnen is said to be entering the light heavyweight division and has a lot of options for fights in that division. However Bellator MMA President, Scott Coker said he expressed interest in fighting at “three divisions” there. Since his time leaving the UFC Sonnen has had a successful podcast, works as an analyst for ESPN and does commentary for WSOF.

Names mentioned by Coker as possible opponents were; Wanderlei Silva, Tito Ortiz, Fedor Emilanenko and recently signed Rory MacDonald. “These are all fights that I’d be very inclined to watch,” said Coker, “so hopefully we can put some, if not all of these matchups together starting before the end of the year”. More details are sure to come today and likely tonight during Bellator 161.
Once a competitor, always a competitor and nothing is more “gangster” than that. Frontproof Media will keep you posted with updates.
