Carboncoin — A very brief introduction

Carboncoin is an energy efficient secure version of bitcoin which has been running for over two years. In short it is a payment system (for transferring money over the internet) which funds things which are good for nature.

Carboncoin became what it is for two reasons. The first reason relates to the knowledge of what bitcoin had achieved (~zero to billions of dollars), understanding of how it had done this, and the determination to recreate the success but this time direct it specifically to do as much good as possible. Initially to directing money to things which are good for the environment which may not necessarily have an economic justification otherwise.

The second reason was the gigantic 24-hour hairdryer that is cryptocurrency “mining”, generating heat with multiple power stations worth of electricity… Surely not with climate change unfolding before all of our eyes. It was this gratuitous heat generation which brought about the energy efficiency requirement, and seeded the idea of trying to repair some of the damage which had already been caused to the environment, assuming of course that repair is possible.

The activities which we can do which are most beneficial for our environment is in itself an enormous subject. The most obvious one is PLANT MORE TREES, so that’s where our initial focus is placed. As further research into sustaining our habitat is released this will be subject to review. Supporting nature is the mandate.

We will use this channel to explain various different elements of the project. Decisions we have taken, the current state of the technology, using the technology, development objectives, real world initiatives, and answering any questions we are asked along the way.
