Laying the Groundwork for Better Storage
If you’re reading this, then you likely know that I’m running for President in order to make storage great again. Today, debates rage on about which storage is best, which provider is a lightweight or a choker, and who is sweating under the heat of virtualization. But friends, you and I know it all comes down to the issues and while other candidates make big promises about happiness, simplicity and storage healthcare, I’ve got a VM-aware storage platform. Here’s exactly where I stand on the issues that are shaping your data center.
Enact LUN Control: LUNs are a global epidemic and far too many people have access to them. DevOps, Sys Admins and even CIOs are forced to think and work in LUNs, and that’s just dangerous. So I propose a bill that will take LUNs completely out of their hands and give them what they really care about — VMs. It won’t be easy, but it’s necessary in order to make storage great again.
No VMs Left Behind: Too often VMs are thrown into a LUN and then forgotten, left to fight with other VMs for a common pool of performance resources. But each of these VMs is different, important and deserves to be heard. Instead of treating them all the same, each one should get the exact resources it needs to succeed. I promise that if you vote for me, I’ll ensure none of them are left behind.
VM-migration Policy: This has become a broader issue for data centers around the United States. Tracking the movements of VMs in a spreadsheet isn’t a long-term plan, and you can’t build a wall in Excel.
