We’ve looked a lot at professionalisation when staring at the data at my company – Airdna and looked at this issue in Santa Monica in a recent blog post. Check it out. We found the answer is surprisingly not. There are remarkably few full time rentals that are not run by any one person – most listings are by people renting out their home for less than 10% of the year. I think Airbnb gets a lot of heat for rising rents in some cities, but the affect is pretty marginal.
