Gud Writin
What does it mean to be a good writer? No spelling errors? Proving a point?
Maybe there is no true meaning.
Good writing allows the reader to interpret, ponder, and come back for more. Even bad writing, in some instances, can be good. This diversity can lead to new analysis and further research that may have never occurred without the poorly written piece.
The opportunity to understand and interpret what has been written gives the reader power and invites the possibility of endless journeys. Robert Frost’s “The Road Not Taken”, allows the reader to contemplate the road taken (or not taken) yet the curiosity is never truly settled.
Frost knew how to draw the readers in while still giving the distance needed to make assumptions, analyze, and choose the ending. His use of emotion makes his writing personal, while still being valued as the writer.
In “The Road Not Taken”, Frost was mysterious, or perhaps he was direct. This uncertainty welcomes the reader back to read the same writing numerous times. It allows for the same writing to present a new message with each reading.
He paints an image in the minds of those he impacts. Frost describes his setting so it becomes a reality. Reality creates connections.
Ultimately, good writing is dependent on the perspective of the reader. The feeling that is provoked from the piece allows the reader to formulate their opinion.
So, what is good writing? I do not have the exact answer, for that lies with the reader.
