Video of Catalina’s LGBT Platform

Our lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender community is an integral part of our district. They are our family, friends, and neighbors. Although our city and state have made some great strides towards protecting LGBT rights, much more must to be done. Many still face discriminatory practices in the workplace, housing, and public accommodations. Additionally, key services like healthcare, are generally not culturally-competent or readily available. To protect the rights of our LGBT family, we must:

Elmhurst, NY — Today, Catalina Cruz, Democrat for State Assembly (39th District), unveiled a five-point plan to support struggling seniors across Queens. Cruz made the announcement joined by community leaders and local seniors at a press conference outside the Elmhurst-Jackson Heights Senior Center. Jackson Heights, NY — Catalina Cruz, Democrat for State Assembly (39AD), released the statement below in response to Ari Espinal’s comments regarding debates in Corona, Elmhurst and Jackson Heights.

“I am encouraged to learn of Ari Espinal’s belated intentions to engage in our democratic process. However, I am disappointed that she failed to attend our most recent opportunity to address the communities of Corona, Elmhurst, and Jackson Heights. Nearly 200 community residents attended the debate organized by the New Visions Democratic Club and the Lesbian and Gay Democratic Club of Queens. It is unfortunate they did not hear from her.

Catalina Cruz participates in a standing room only debate on May 10th at the Jewish Center of Jackson Heights. The debate was co-hosted by the New Visions Democratic Club and the Lesbian and Gay Democratic Club of Queens.

Growing communities are healthy communities — and new developments are often a part of that growth. But they need to be smart. They need to be responsible. The proposed development for 40–31 82nd Street by Sun Equity Partners and Heskel Group is reckless and unsafe. …
