I Don’t Need You

Fuck you and your understanding disguise.
Shove your pity back past your greedy mouth
and swallow it.
My fear turns orange in my ears,
but never splashes from my lips.
It is not for you to clothe yourself in,
And warm yourself from the heat of my burning heart.
I am nothing like flame,
I am like phoenix.
Rising up, wild, alone,
brave.
And you, tweezers in hand
to pluck the wings from my back.
But I dance away, hot foot.
And I steal your smirk,
with liberty
and burnt sienna.
