The Carolina Hurricanes (9–13–4, 22 points) conclude their three-game home stand Sunday afternoon by hosting the Arizona Coyotes (13–12–1, 27 points).
The Canes snapped a three-game losing streak Saturday night with a 3–2 win against the Montreal Canadiens. It was one of, if not the most complete effort of the season for the Hurricanes.
The Coyotes have dropped three straight — the first three of their five-game road trip. Each of those losses have been by three or more goals.

The Coyotes average the most power plays per game (3.58) in the NHL, while the Hurricanes are the least penalized team and surrender the fewest power play opportunities per game (2.42). Arizona has had five or more power plays in a game seven times, and six or more man-advantages four times. Carolina has been shorthanded two or fewer times in 14 of its 26 games this season.
Those trends have reversed somewhat lately as the Hurricanes have been shorthanded at least four times in six of their last eight games. The Coyotes have generated two or fewer power plays in four of their last five contests.
Arizona generates 20.0% of its offense from the power play, 5th lowest percentage of goals for in the NHL. Carolina is tied for second in the league, allowing just 19.7% of its goals against while shorthanded.
The Hurricanes penalty discipline against the Coyotes ability to draw power plays will be an interesting subplot to this game.
