CERAMICS OF ITALY PREMIERES FILM AT THE ARCHITECTURE & DESIGN FILM FESTIVAL IN NEW YORK

October 16–21, 2018

Cinepolis Chelsea, NYC

(New York, NY — October 2018) For the 10th anniversary of the Architecture & Design Film Festival — the nation’s largest film festival devoted to the subject — Ceramics of Italy will present the NY premiere of a poetic film that chronicles Italian ceramic tile and its role in thoughtfully conceived architecture and design. Directed by film auteur Francesca Molteni and architectural historian Fulvio Irace, Timeless Tiles: The Italian Legacy will screen three times during the New York edition of the festival (ADFF:NY) taking place at Cinépolis Chelsea from October 16–21. As a sponsor of the festival, Ceramics of Italy will also be present in the festival lounge where registered architects and designers can learn about the Italian ceramics industry and enter for a chance to win an all-expenses paid CEU trip to Bologna, Italy for Cersaie 2019.

As one of the main events of Archtober — New York City’s architecture and design month — ADFF:NY brings together thousands of design professionals and aficionados for six days of film screenings, panel discussions, filmmaker Q&As, events, and pop-up installations. It also offers the perfect platform for Ceramics of Italy to share the ethos of Italian ceramic tile and its contribution to the built environment through the film Timeless Tiles: The Italian Legacy. In honor of the 25th anniversary of the Ceramics of Italy Tile Competition, the architectural documentary tells the story of the competition from its inception in 1994 to present day, through dozens of inspiring projects and interviews with architects such as Daniel Libeskind, Jennifer Carpenter and Michael P. Johnson.

The film will screen three times during ADFF:NY (on Wednesday, October 17 at 9:30pm, on Friday, October 19 at 9:15pm, and Saturday, October 20 at 7:00pm) along with two other films presenting the work and philosophy of Italian architect Renzo Piano: Two Pianos directed by Paul Clemence and Aksel Stasny; and The Power of the Archive directed by Francesca Molteni.

Information on the 2019 Tile Competition will also be available at the Ceramics of Italy table in the festival lounge, where registered architects and designers will have the chance to win an all-expenses paid CEU trip to Cersaie 2019.
