My Journey to Create a Web App
Today is the beginning of my journey to creating a web application.
Preface
Just a preface to my entry here. This is going to be a completely raw and unfiltered journal of my experiences as I work towards developing a web application that will be useful to me. I am not looking to build a massive app that will be hugely popular and make billions. I simply want the ability to throw up a tool that will help me do something better whenever I find the inspiration to do so.
Introduction
Before I begin, I guess I owe my readers a brief intro into myself. My name’s Christian, y'all can call me Chris. I have a 2 year old son named Connor. And a very beautiful wife named Lissett. I am 26 years old, and I work full-time at a big transportation company in Miami.
Actually Relevant Shit
So yeah, now with all the formalities out of the way — welcome to my personal journey to creating a web app.
First off, I just got out of a meeting with some developers at my job. Like many others, right after a meeting I was brimming with great ideas, and a million things to do.
Usually I go to my whiteboard and write down the #1 thing I want to (or was explicitly told to) accomplish for that week. At this point everything else that I need to do for the week is already starting to blur out of my memory, without me actually noticing. As a matter of fact, as I write this, I have no idea what everything I have to do is.
But I do remember 1 very important thing. And that was to create a task list app. How’d I think of doing this? No, I wasn’t asked to by my boss, but instead this is something I want to do for myself (on the side) that will improve my ability to recall my tasks from now on.
You, much like myself, might be thinking of 100 apps that currently exist that can do precisely that. And probably much more! But the key word there is can. Most apps out there can do what I need, but what I want to create is something that will do only what I need. That may not make any sense to you— but it makes sense to me. Seeing a trend here?
I’ll let you know what happens tomorrow.
Cheers,
Christian
