7 Marathons in 7 days

It’s almost a year since I took on the epic Challenge of running 7 marathons in 7 days. Following in the footsteps of Sir Ranulph Fiennes up mountains and now roads seemed appropriate to me as an avid adventurer and endurance lover.

Most people ask why? Why take on such a challenge? My answer is always the same, because I can, I’m able to and it gives me the ultimate buzz.

Each of the challenges I’ve complete since 1999 have been the foundations to the next challenge, running the London Marathon to 7x7x7 or the summit of kilimanjaro leading to the summit of Mont Blanc, each are seen as stepping stones to greater things. I don’t see it as an ego thing but it’s certainly experiencing the best adventure while doing a good cause for charity at the same time.

If someone had said to me 15 years ago you’ll be considering climbing Mount Everest or attempting a World Record first I’d have laughed at them. Its always good to look back on your life, in business, adventure and fitness, just to see how far you have come.

We all start from somewhere, so why not start today — J.Smith
