Short Film

The filmmaker that inspired me and chose to use his techniques to apply them in my short film is Michael Haneke.
Michael Haneke is one of the simplest filmmakers, because he shows in his films to the audience little actions, small good and bad situations as possible that happen in our normal daily life. He also shows great details in his films. Therefore, all the details and the real life situations that he films make the audience feel like they are inside the movie, which makes his film personal to the person who’s watching. Haneke’s main techniques that he uses to his films are a series of scenes he shoots, to create a full film.

My inspirational film that I chose from Haneke’s films is “Code Unknown”. This film was made in 2000, composed of 46 scenes, unedited long scenes filmed in real time. I chose this film because it inspired me of how personal it is, which made me live with the character in the movie. In my short film, I applied his techniques.
The video was taken during the day. I took series of small shots of a friend of mine and I asked her to perform the same way she does in her everyday life when she comes to the city. This shows to the audience that the video is personal because they are seeing everyday actions. There were also another person which was her sister in real life. The reason why I included another person is to show how she would also live daily with her sister, and to be natural in front of the camera. I included music in the video, which is a continuous melody, to show a continuous day, actions and everyday life. I framed a way to show architecture and the city through by filming a series of shots and made a full short film at the end.

In conclusion, the story of the film shows how the person lives in the city, how he reacts, live with architecture exterior and interior and how he also looks at architecture.
