PHP 7.1 is now available on! Here’s how I upgraded my Drupal site to use it

30 minutes ago Bastian announced that PHP 7.1 has just become available.

I was so excited to try it out, I upgraded my local environment right away.

  • If docker is running, type exit.
  • Open docker-compose.yml in your site root.
  • change amazeeio/drupal:php71-basic to amazeeio/drupal:php70-basic, then save the file.
  • run docker-compose up -d, this will fetch the latest docker image
  • launch docker again with docker-compose exec--user drupal drupal bash
  • run drush status
  • check your drupal site’s status report just to make sure
  • test everything works nicely. If happy with it make a git commit, then ask your buddies at to make the change to the servers.
