The Life and Death of Lexa
Jason Rothenberg

This, right here, is what we’ve been waiting for you to understand and to say. After all the interviews, tweets, statements, etc. beating around the bush or missing the point… This, finally, is what was needed. Thank you for acknowledging the words, anger, frustration, heartbreak, history, and pain of the queer community, representation in media, and the “Bury Your Gays” trope. Thank you for admitting your ignorance, and your mistakes in this scenario. With this, I finally see that our words have not been in vain, because you’ve finally heard them and seem to have learned from them. May that continue.
Know that this is appreciated. You’re still going to get a lot of backlash, because nothing can “fix” what’s been broken here. But for many, many people, this will help just a little bit. Because it shows that you’re listening, and learning, and have the wherewithal to apologize and admit you were wrong. And, in the grander scheme of things in regards to the media world, this is still a step–no matter how small–towards possible progress. Thank you for posting it.
