I once created a fake account and won a 99 Design company rebrand contest as the sweetest designer revenge of all time.

C-Level couldn’t agree on anything regarding logo direction. So they wanted to open it up to 99 Design Contest because they wanted more options than just my attempts. I, the designer, obviously became the problem since they couldn’t agree on anything.

Of the ten final designs picked out of about a thousand attempts, 6 of the designs were mine. Including the final pick.

When I revealed that I was the designer, they got pissed at me and made me redesign the logo again. We finally landed on a final logo and it’s perfect. I have to admit it’s the best logo I’ve ever designed.

Redesign is not just part of the process, it’s your damn job. You’re the designer.

I still work there today and its the best job I’ve ever had. Because the people and process is challenging, engaging and at the end of the day, honest.
