Don’t wait

Some words for those of you who are going through big changes now.

As an adult, you’re always going to be in a continuous state of loving, hating, doing, not doing, falling in love, falling out of love, visiting people in hospitals, attending weddings, attending funerals, attending baby showers, attending graduations and recitals and shows, witnessing financial crises and natural disasters and war and death and poverty, and seeing people become wealthy and poor who don’t necessarily deserve it.

There’s always going to be things going on in life and in the world.

So it’s important not to get caught up in why the world is terrible, and focus on the good in the world, in what others are doing and in what you can do.

And if you’re genuinely going through a tough time, then genuinely take the time to process it and be ready.

But sometimes it feels like you need to wait for the perfect time to start, but really there’s never going to be a perfect time to start. Because, like I was saying, life is always in a state of beginnings and endings.

So, don’t wait. Start whenever you can in whatever way you can, however small.

Start now.

And be kind, damnit.
