Treat your team with these sweet gifts

A little something for every occasion.

You probably spend more time with them than with your own family; sharing desks, closing deals and working to deadlines.

Running a team takes a huge amount of focus, attention and energy, and it can be easy to forget that sometimes it’s the little things that count.

Here are five occasions worth celebrating, and our recommendations for how to make them memorable…

First Day

There are few things more terrifying or exciting than starting a new job. Hopefully you’ve already onboarded your newest hire before their arrival (using CharlieHR, of course!), so you can spend their first few hours showing them around their new home-from-home.

Why not round out the day by giving them a box of Boomf marshmallows featuring their new team?

Send an email out to the gang suggesting they swing by and say hello, and tell your new hire that they can only eat a face once they know that person’s name!

End of Probation

Whether it’s a month or three months, the end of a probation period is a great chance to mark someone’s hard work getting to know your company.

Let them know how “sweet” their efforts have been with a treat or two from Candy Kittens.

Birthday

If there’s one thing you learn in an office environment, it’s that birthdays are for everyone. Surprise your team (and we mean the WHOLE team…make sure to include any temps or freelancers!) with a box of goodies from Lola’s Cupcakes.

Thank You

It’s a cliché to say it with flowers…but also, who doesn’t love flowers? When someone has gone above and beyond on a project, send a gorgeous bunch of Bloom & Wild flowers to their home.

They go through the letterbox, so it won’t matter that they’ve been out all day, and are a nice reminder that you’re thinking of them beyond the four walls of the office.

(Remember: you can store everyone’s addresses for easy access on their CharlieHR profile.)

One Year

It’s no small feat to spend a year of your life in someone else’s company. They’ve almost certainly seen you at your worst…and hopefully also at your best. Treat them to a day spent letting loose and blowing of steam with a pair of tickets to a local festival. Festicket is a great way to browse and book.

More than anything, remember that telling your team you appreciate them doesn’t have to be expensive. Write an email, invite them out for a coffee, or say a few words at Friday drinks. After all, it’s the little things that count.

CharlieHR is the HR platform for teams with big ideas. Building a company is hard, running one shouldn’t be. Find out more here.
