I agree with everything you said here except for classifying some writers as the “innocent until proven guilty crowd” like it’s a bad thing. Everyone accused of a crime is assumed innocent until proven guilty. It’s one of the most important elements of the judicial process.

Assuming someone is a criminal before there’s a conviction is unfair and irresponsible, no matter the crime. And ignoring that fact is something that lots of Internet outrage-inciting columnists love to do.
