Jimmy Page: Highly Talented and Influential Guitarist from Led Zeppelin

Jimmy Page has long been considered one of the most influential guitarists of all time. He has been a musician, and songwriter since 1957. Page has also been a record producer. Jimmy Page is the founder of rock band Led Zeppelin, where he was a guitarist in the band.

Rolling Stone magazine ranked Jimmy Page as number three, in their 2015 list, titled ‘100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time’. The first and second guitarists on the list, was Jimi Hendrix, and Eric Clapton. Rolling Stone described Jimmy Page as ‘the pontiff of power riffing’.

Page was also ranked second, in Gibson’s 2010 ‘Top 50 Guitarists of All Time’. Classic Rock’s 2007 list, ‘100 Wildest Guitar Heroes’, listed him as number four. Jimmy Page was inducted twice into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The first time was in 1992, because Page as a member of ‘The Yardbirds’. The second time, was in 1995, because he was a member of ‘Led Zeppelin’.

Jimmy Page has long been recognized for his guitar riffs, and guitar solos recognized for their distorted tones, and alternative guitar tunings. Page has also sometimes played the guitar with a cello bow, which gives it a very specific droning sound. He had picked up this technique, by David McCallum Sr., who had been a session musician (and had been the Scottish leader of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Scottish National Orchestra).
