Roger D. Aycock: Prolific Science Fiction Author

Roger D. Aycock was a prolific author in the 2oth century, having published dozens of novels and short stories, mainly from the ’40s to the ’60s. He continued to write up until 1971, when he became inactive. He also wrote some science fiction works. He often wrote under a few pseudonyms — ‘John Starr’, Roger Dee’, as well as writing under his own name.

Aycock was born on December 6, 1914 in Floyd County, Georgia. He was the son of Frances White Aycock, and he’d spent his whole life in Rome and Floyd County, Georgia. Aycock attended Rome city Schools, and graduated class of 1932. Aycock married Imogene Johnson, on January 5, 1937.

During the second world war, Aycock served in the US army Signal Corp, and was a lifelong member of the Shanklin-Attaway legion Post 5 of the American Legion, and served as Adjutant for many years. Aycock was a letter carrier in Rome, for 23 years, and is a life member of the National Association of Letter Carriers. For many years, Aycock was associated with the Rome News Tribune.

Aycock is the author of ‘All Roads Lead to Rome’, which was published in 1981. He wrote the book while working with local historian, C.J Wyatt.
