What Happened to Sara Wood?

Sara Wood had been abducted on August 18, 1993.

Twelve-year-old Sara Wood had lived in Litchfield, New York, with her parents (Frances, and Robert Wood), and her brother, and sister. She had been an avid churchgoer, attending Norwich Corners Presbyterian Church, where her father was a pastor. Sara had been a bright young religious child, who had also loved dancing, and poetry.

On August 18th, 1993, Sara had been biking home from Bible school, while carrying an armful of supplies. She had been carrying a poster board, crayons, a church song book, and some 8x10 plastic sleeves. She traveled along the rural Hacadam Road, in Herkimer County, which was a short bike ride home. Unfortunately, Sara never made it home that afternoon.

When Sara never made it home that evening, her parents went out to look for her. They were concerned, because she had left around 2:30 in the afternoon, and their home was just around the corner. They found her pink and white bike propped up against a tree. The items that she’d been carrying that day, were found scattered among the nearby bushes — just a few feet away from her bike. Her parents quickly called the police, and reported her as a missing person. Sara’s family had been distraught at losing the young girl.

Sara Anne Wood had been born on March 4, 1981. She had been five feet tall, weighing 96 pounds. She’d had shoulder-length brown, curly hair. Sara had had…
