I think being unwilling to acknowledge one’s privilege is a huge barrier to more widespread equality. It’s not a matter of saying an entire group of people is oppressive and evil — which is why I think people get so defensive when someone brings up inequality — but that everyone has aspects of our identities that give us privilege in certain situations. But what is a privilege for one group can be and is often at the expense of another group.
