I too was once a NYCTF, but my students were in high school. I am curious as to why your piece moved from these onlookers appearing “captivated” to representing hostility from the outside world? I agree with you that it’s important to obtain permission from a parent or guardian before photographing children. But isn’t it possible that these “white people” were genuinely enthralled by the beauty of children being children, skin tone and hair styles aside?
