Solara Resort & Spa

True Rocky Mountain luxury

When it comes to resorts, there’s luxury and then there’s Rocky Mountain luxury.

Wondering what the difference is?

The best way to answer that question is to spend a weekend at the Solara Resort and Spa, a lavish all-suite escape in Canmore, Alberta.

With the sky-piercing Rockies in the background, these accommodations are chic and sumptuous while still reflecting the area’s spectacular natural beauty. Natural stone, hand-crafted wood finishes and plenty of cozy fireplaces create an ambience that’s modern and refined yet warm and rustic.

Solara also offers an enticing list of high-end amenities. From a state of the art fitness centre and holistic spa to a popular movie theatre, there are plenty of things to do right onsite. And because these are spacious condo-style accommodations, visitors here have ample room to stretch out.

But when adventure calls, you just have to step outside to go exploring. Because the resort is mere steps from downtown Canmore, guests can easily walk to amazing restaurants and iconic attractions. All the trails, lakes and ski hills in Banff National Park and Kananaskis Country are also within easy reach.

Within Strolling Distance To Downtown

At first, it’s almost impossible to keep your eyes off the horizon.

Tucked within a forest of evergreens, the Solara Resort & Spa sits in the shadow of the awe-evoking Rocky Mountains, just off the Bow Valley Trail. Sidewalks dotted with lush trees and immaculate lawns add to the pristine character of the area.

Simply stroll along a nearby path to reach all the excitement in downtown Canmore. Dine at more than 70 different restaurants, sip cocktails at local bars or drop by one of the many art galleries. And considering that Solara is a pet-friendly resort, many guests love the fact that an off-leash dog park is located just a few kilometres away.

Head south down the Bow Valley Trail to Canmore Caverns, where you can venture through the twisting tunnels of the Rat’s Nest Cave. Or tee off at the Silvertip Golf Course, located just a six-minute drive from the resort.

And when it’s time to really explore, the stunning beauty of Kananaskis Country and Banff National Park is right in your backyard. For winter visits, you’ll be near three of the area’s top ski resorts: Mt. Norquay, Sunshine Village, and Lake Louise. And in the summer, some of Canada’s most amazing lakes, hiking trails and natural attractions await a short distance away in Banff National Park.

Chic & spacious suites

Refined with just the right amount of rustic, these condo-style suites are perfect for both couples and families.

Solara offers one, two and three-bedroom accommodations that have up to a whopping 1,780 square feet of space. But the true beauty of these rooms is all in the details.

Vaulted ceilings and rich, wood finishings bring the magnificence of the outdoors inside. Gourmet kitchens blend custom cabinets and stainless steel appliances with slick granite countertops — the perfect setup for showing off your culinary skills. A special wine fridge adds an extra-haute touch.

The living rooms are equally enticing. Settle into a plush leather chair and relax in front of the fireplace while sipping a glass of your favorite vintage. The flat-screen TVs, imported cork flooring and other warm décor touches give these suites a home-like feel while still maintaining an upscale vibe.

The spacious bathrooms, swathed in polished stone, are especially high-end with giant spa tubs containing muscle-melting massage jets.

But perhaps what’s most amazing about the suites at Solara isn’t what’s inside at all — over-sized windows offer unspoiled views of the majestic Rocky Mountains.

Step onto your patio or balcony to breathe in that crisp, Canmore air before heading out to explore the wilderness. Or spend the day right at the resort — you’ll be surprised by how much there is to do.

Fun for kids, relaxation for adults

From movies and massages to water activities for kids, Solara offers an impressively diverse list of amenities.

Let’s start with One Wellness & Spa. This unique facility was founded by physiotherapist Hugh Simson after seeing two of his friends suffer from extreme stress. He started this soothing spa in order to help people “be at one” with themselves while fully engaging in life.

The services offered here range from decadent beauty treatments (including an amazing lemongrass mimosa body scrub) to personal training, Pilates classes and wellness coaching.

The 9,500-square-foot facility is equipped with a co-ed sauna, steam circuit relaxation lounge and plenty of little perks. We especially love the ovens that keep your bathrobe warm while you’re enjoying a massage. After a long day of hiking or skiing, there’s no better way to unwind.

If playing among the Rocky Mountains hasn’t tired you out yet, you’ll also find a well-stocked fitness center complete with cardio equipment and weight machines. Kids can burn off any extra energy splashing in the sprinklers at the water park or at the special activities room. The Summit Seeker Kid’z Kamp is also a favorite among little ones — these outdoor activities run during school vacations and on select holidays.

If your idea of relaxation is just kicking back and watching a good flick, you’re in luck; Solara is home to the only movie theatre in Canmore. With 96 seats and a full-sized projection screen, you can watch the latest movies mere steps from your hotel room. Now, that’s a convenient night out.

Other great amenities at the Solara Resort & Spa include:
