Chicago’s Skyline Is Getting Greener!

While they may not actually be changing color, some of the buildings that make up Chicago’s iconic skyline are getting more energy efficient.

The Retrofit Chicago Energy Challenge — Mayor Emanuel’s initiative to improve the energy efficiency of the city’s large buildings — is adding 12 buildings to become one of largest efficiency programs in the nation.

The 50 buildings already in the program have reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by the equivalent of 14,000 fewer cars on the road annually. To build on this success, Mayor Emanuel has committed to expanding the total number buildings in the program to 80 by mid-2017. Learn more here.
