We Will Continue Fighting For Families’: Statement From Mayor Emanuel On US vs Texas SCOTUS Decision

Immigrants are a proud part of Chicago’s history and an essential part of our future. I applaud the President for taking executive action to protect families from the threat of deportation, which is consistent with our true Chicago values.
From the Chicago Star Scholarship to our One Summer Chicago program, to our Welcoming City Ordinance, we continue to open doors of opportunity to all of our children regardless of their family’s immigration status. Today’s Supreme Court Ruling does not close any of those doors.
While we are deeply disappointed in the outcome of today’s Supreme Court ruling, we are not discouraged by it. We will continue fighting for families to stay together and to ensure that immigrants can continue to fully participate in the economic and cultural life of Chicago.
