OSSci Index Interest Group

In partnership with the Schaffhausen Institute of Technology (SIT.org), this group will develop the format of a software catalog for OSSci that will let us accomplish the second pillar goal, mapping all of science onto OSS. The catalog should not be just an “awesome GitHub projects” kind of list, but rather a rich metadata format around projects, including additional valuable information on

  • the community of discovery using the project
  • books, papers, tutorials and courses helping to learn about the project and the domain
  • blog posts and articles related to it
  • how to get help, get started, join research
  • how to find jobs and grants working on this project
  • how to support it

We are excited to launch OSSci at SciPy 2022 in Austin. The founding OSSci members, NumFOCUS — the home of the initiative — and the IBM Research team, will jointly unveil it at the Opening Reception (sponsored by IBM).

We welcome our launch partners and invite everyone to sign up for our updates and indicate the interest groups that you’d like to join (or start) to make OSSci a reality. Please fill out a short form to get an invitation to OSSci:
