I don’t know any details of product releases from Apple I’m afraid :)

For Windows to become more friendly to varied developers and heavier terminal users it would have to become so different I’m not sure it would really be Windows anymore. I guess the bash environment is an attempt to fix that slowly.

Linux is very nice for developing on, but it’s shortcomings on the visual side made it hard for me to use.

This does leave us in an interesting position really. If macOS lurches more towards the direction of iOS, I am personally unsure what I would use instead, and that’s kind of worrying. Developers are a market, but we’re not really that big of a market.
