Bad Blood: Secrets and Lies in a Silicon Valley Startup by John Carreyrou is a book I picked up thinking it was about the tech industry because “Silicon Valley” was in the subtitle. I guess it is, but it really isn’t about computers. It is about a company that did blood testing and used the Silicon Valley model of raising money and building hype to fund their fraud.

Yes, they were located in Silicon Valley because the money was there but this is a horrific tale of corporate psychopathy, lies and deceit. This con-game raised billions based on lies and is a textbook tale of corporate greed.

Carreyrou’s writing is easy to read and a real page-turner. I never thought I would read a book like this so fast but couldn’t put it down.
