I mean really, it’s a simple post to say that no matter how many times you read something that makes you more knowledgeable, if you don’t apply any of that knowledge, it’s useless.

How many times I’ve watched a video and some guy says, “Stop watching this video and go do something!”, but I sit there trying to learn more.

I agree with you. I also agree that self-help is addictive because there is a real sense of development from this type of learning. There is nothing wrong with it, even more-so if those listicles offer you some insight; But don’t just read them and expect to become rich or successful, or happy.

Read them, take what you need, and go do something with it.
