Here’s what Hartford High School Students are saying about race.

Today I sat down with students from Hartford Public High schools to talk about topics like race, inequality, and education. The experiences they shared during our conversation are important for everyone to see. This is what they had to say.

At the end of our conversation one girl said to me,

“When you go back to DC, you have to fight for us. People, politicians, they come in here and talk to us and then nothing happens. We see them later and they act like they don’t know us. Don’t forget about us.”

I told these kids that I would be accountable to them. I intend to keep that promise.
