Or don’t bother with writing your own authentication service by using a 3rd party, which will remove a lot of headaches:

There are a lot of subtleties around authentication which can leave you vulnerable. You can add things like longer auth endpoint rate limiting, but why add the worry?

(And yes I’ve written my own before, hence why I prefer to leave it to the experts)
