I just watched this movie and I have to say that I really enjoyed it.
I have a different opinion on why Chris “ignored” Georgina’s cry for help.
When a black guy dates a white women, the other black women (not all but some) will look down on the guy and be spiteful towards him. He even mentions this in the movie.
So when Georgina starts crying, it is obvious to US that this is a cry for help but we need to put ourselves into his shoes.
At the beginning of the movie Chris asks Rose if she has told her parents that he is black, this shows that he is concerned with how people react to them being a mixed race couple. Chris is not on the lookout for what is wrong with this household, he is more concerned with the impression he makes with each member of the household and vice versa (This is only normal when meeting your partners family for the first time).
Firstly Chris has noticed that Georgina has been behaving strange around him. Secondly she is unplugging his phone from the charger which makes him think she is being spiteful towards him. So thus far he has this impression that Georgina has an agenda against him for being with Rose.
So taking into account the first impression he has from Georgina, it is understandable that Chris would assume Georgina is “crazy” when she is crying and smiling at the same time.
So yea that is my take from that scene :) I think what makes this movie so good is that it brings up so much things to debate on and we all have different opinions.
Nice job on the article by the way, keep up the good work!
