Upgrading to MacOS Sierra will break your SSH keys and lock you out of your own servers.

Hi Quincy,

Thank you for posting this. I’ve been purposely waiting to upgrade to Sierra because I had trouble in 2010 (whatever big cat Apple used to call its OS). I couldn’t save changes I made to Photoshop products, and when I finally called Adobe I was informed of the bugs in the new Apple OS and that I would have to revert to the older OS. When I reverted back to the old operating system so that I could use Photoshop again, I lost all sorts of data that I didn’t back up properly. So 1. I learned a very hard lesson to backup all data frequently. 2. Always wait a few weeks before upgrading, do a thorough Google search for problems with an Apple upgrade.

Yet, as I’m still learning to code and so far away from being an actual developer, I know that the time is drawing near where I should be updating sooner so I can problem solve these hassles myself.

Thanks again for figuring this problem out and posting about it!
