Self Disclosure

When we were going through my late Grandma’s things, I came across a letter written to her younger brother Johnny. The letter was written in September of 2004 (she would pass away seven years later) when she was in a group home in Oklahoma. She had to take classes and one was a self-disclosure exercise. Here were her answers which are most telling about herself and her priorities.

I am most content when I am with my children and family.

My hopes and dreams for the future are to see my sons and Gary’s wife, daughter and my grandson and granddaughter (ed note: not sure who she is referring to as I know of no granddaughter).

I like myself most when I pray and show love.

I like myself least when don’t say no look in the mirror.

My greatest fear is a traffic accident like we had when I was 16.

I feel disappointed when Chris, Elaine, Barbara and Gary are not with me at Pats.

People think I am about 40 years old and friendly. [ed note: she was 69 at this time]

I value most my relationship with God.

One negative trait about myself is I can’t stand lazy, dumb people like Estalla the 60 year old black.

One positive trait about myself is I give lots of love to all people and especially God.
