Hey, How are you holding up?

Oh I don’t deserve this job… Hmmm I don’t worth this grade… Nah I am not a good programmer… Oh I should’ve stick with my previous job I was good at that… God! this job is not for me…

All these thoughts run through the head of someone going through an Imposter Syndrome. You feel like you’re a fraud right? I know how it feels I’ve been there, everyone you see at the top of their job today also went through this at some point in their life.

Those are the thoughts that run through your mind every time you reach a milestone or achieve a great purpose or dream in your life. But here's what you need to know about Imposter syndrome

Facts:

— Almost everyone, if not all at a certain point in their life will go through or will have experienced Self Doubts (Imposter Syndrome).

— It’s normal. It’s Natural.

— You can fight it.

— You can control it.

— You can Overcome it.

Just close your eyes and say “I can do it”

So what’s Imposter Syndrome?

From all the little analogy I used earlier (the dialogue between some whispering or talking duck in your head and you)

Image showing a guy talking to himself

We can say Imposter Syndrome is a sickness or a force in itself that makes you doubt your ability to achieve something(pretty short right?).

Imposter syndrome can be defined as a collection of feelings of inadequacy that persist despite evident success. ‘Imposters’ suffer from chronic self-doubt and a sense of intellectual fraudulence that override any feelings of success or external proof of their competence

According to Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia:

Impostor syndrome (also known as impostor phenomenon, impostorism, fraud syndrome or the impostor experience) is a psychological pattern in which an individual doubts their accomplishments and has a persistent internalized fear of being exposed as a “fraud”.

Despite external evidence of their competence, those experiencing this phenomenon remain convinced that they are frauds, and do not deserve all they have achieved. Individuals with impostorism incorrectly attribute their success to luck, or as a result of deceiving others into thinking they are more intelligent than they perceive themselves to be.

How do I overcome this Imposter Syndrome (Self Doubt)?

Fighting Impostorism is a process and here's a tested process:

Self Confidence: Have confidence in yourself

— Stay Positive: Cultivate and live in a positive environment. To be able to stay positive it is essential to have influences in your life that support you and lift you up instead of dragging you down. So carefully consider what you let into your mind.

— Be Optimistic: Be hopeful and confident.

— Believe in yourself

And lastly, Anytime that voice come telling you Shii* tell it you’re where you are today because you worked for it and you deserve it, you spent your summer studying Math to be good at it, you burnt a whole lot of night candle to learn how to write Java or Javascript, you’ve been hit so many time and now it's your time to take charge.

Good vibe

with that vibe around tell the voice this:

I am not a worthless piece of shit, I am not a fraud, I am legit and masterpiece.

That's the spirit.

If you’re inspired kindly leave a clap and share this article to save someone from self doubt.
