Plains of Laramie (Theodore Hale Parker [1912–1933])

Two little puppy dogs,

Tiny puny wiggly dogs,

Stood on the plains of Laramie

And wagged their stubby tails at me.

*

Around and about the vast plain swept,

The white clouds laughed and the black clouds wept,

While my puppy dogs looked at me

Wagged their tails and looked at me

Crossed the road to play with me —

And the dark earth slept.
